Since 2010 fijians have been known as the iTaukei people. They are the major indigenous people of Fiji. They arrived in Fiji about 3,500 years ago, although the exact people of Fiji is unknown. They are indigenous to all of the Fiji islands ecept for the island of Rotuma. Since 2005 the total indigenous fijians have increased by slightly more then half of the total population of Fiji.

- Degei the snake god- they believe that Degei is the greatest god of all. Did you know that they believed within this god he chose would walk through death successfully and would roam earth for eternity.
- Fire walking- Fire walking was brought over by the Indians. They do this to show appreciation and gratitude.
- Sevusevu- in Fiji if you visit a village you are expected to bring a gift of Waka Root and a brief explanation of why you visited.
